I’m excited about our guest today as well
would you please share a little bit about
the pink tsunami absolutely OK
our guest today is Alicia Visconte and listeners
listen up I have a lot to share
so Alicia has 20 years of experience as a president
and CEO driving organizational development
and taking companies to the next level
uh she’s an author
a professional speaker and an entrepreneur
her motto in life is work hard
play hard and help others repeat
Alicia entered the franchise space as a friend
serve consultant after quickly becoming a top producer
Alicia had the opportunity to acquire friend Serve
which she has built to the word
world’s largest franchise consulting
broker organization
consistently recognized by the franchise community
Alicia has been named a top influencer in franchising
by 1981 Samba year after year
she was also named to the Leadership Council
for the National Small Business Association in 2024
wow
that that is a heck of a bio
okay Alicia
well welcome back
as a guest to the franchise business radio show
um gosh
it’s hard to believe just a few years back
we were actually physically in a studio
remember that I do indeed Pam
I do that was fun
this is good I do miss being with you
it’s uh
so much fun in person but it’s great to see both of you
thank you well
um I have to share with you
I was very excited about this interview
a lot has gone on
since the last time we had you on the show
um and now here we all are
we’re sitting in our pink right
um which I um
I do have to share with you
I think that’s a good segue to the first question
I have you have written a book
The Pink Tsunami
tell us a little bit about the motivation
behind writing the book
thanks Pam
and you know
honestly this came to me in like so many things
just in a nano second I mean
I literally I woke up and I said to my husband
I’m gonna write a book
and I know what the title’s gonna be
and I know what it’s gonna be about
and and just like that honestly
that’s how it worked because
you know there’s a lot of books in franchising
but nothing that talks about
you know
how women are making more of a place in franchising
and uh
that’s a big passion for me
it’s gotten better since I came into franchising
but it’s still very male dominated
and not that there’s anything
wrong with men being in franchise
but the world is balanced right
there’s you know
people of all different ages and stages
and race and sex and so why not have women
more women in franchising
just like the balance in the world
so it was really very interesting
I I
I literally woke up knew I wanted to reach women
to help them understand
where they could fit into franchising
because most books are about how to own a franchise
you know what do you want to do
what to look for where you should go
um or even how to sell a franchise
or how to be bought by private equity
once you’re a franchise
but there was absolutely nothing
on how to help women understand
that they could be in franchising
even if they’re not entrepreneurs
and don’t want to own a franchise
there’s plenty of other places for them
and that we welcome them
and so I woke up and in a heartbeat honestly
I just like knew like I knew my name and um
that part was the easy part
getting it all done was a little more time consuming
my travel and getting all of my people to
to collaborate and and communicate
but um
it’s been a a
you know joy and love
and we’re finally in the end stages
it’s being proofread now
so it’ll be out probably in about a month
oh congratulations
well obviously
I have your uh
limited edition preview here
yes I
and so that really got me thinking
I’m on I was being a woman in the franchise space I
I can fully appreciate your
I guess I’m called a tagline
women’s rise in franchising
is there is there anything else that you would
hope someone would take away from the book
and the reader
anything that you might want to highlight
for our listeners
yes you know
I start off Pam
as you know with my backstory right and
and people see me and you know
I you know
Shari was kind enough to read some of my background
and people think oh
everything you touch is golden
and you have this great business
but I came from an abusive family right
my mom was a horrific alcoholic
so um
I think that’s something
another message that I always want to espouse to women
that if your background you know
uh was troublesome
or you came from abuse or whatever your past is
doesn’t have to be your future
you can let all that go it’s not easy
but you can rise above it
and usually when things like that happen
you have two choices 1
you go down that same destructive path
or you do the opposite and say
you know what I will not let that define me
and you go down the opposite path
and as much as I you know
had a lot of issues with my mother
I’m actually very grateful
because she is the inspiration for me
because I wanted to be nothing like her
and I don’t know that I would have ended up the same
if my childhood had been different
so you know
things happen for a reason
I think if you have an attitude of gratitude
you find the path that helps you to move forward
even when things look bleak
well first um
thank you for your transparency
took a while took a while
my friend and sharing uh very
very much appreciate that and uh
gosh you just made me think of something
I guess I’ve just I’ve known you since the onset of
you stepping in a long time to uh
the franchise community uh
and I I wasn’t planning to bring this up
and I wish I could remember it
but a long time ago you had posted something
I don’t know if it was on LinkedIn
or one of the franzers and it was actually uh
gratitude around your dad
believe it or not yes
and I remember reading it
thinking it was so beautifully written
I think I copied and pasted
and have it floating around on my computer somewhere
FYI I’m gonna have to dig that one up um
because I really liked it
but
um no joke you
you have
you have really achieved a lot in the franchise
business community and um
and in other things as well
but would you you also mentioned this in your book uh
your your backstory of how you got into franchising
would you please share that story
yes and that’s one of the
you know
one of the reasons also I wanted to write this book to
to try to have women understand that uh
you can kind of make it anywhere
if you make up your mind to that right
I had zero franchise experience 0
I mean
I didn’t even work at a franchise when I was a kid
you know that’s some often what
what someone’s first job
is now yeah right now that’s true right
that’s what most people you know most teenagers right
they started some fast food or no
I never did that
so I never worked at one never owned one um
I I joked I could spell franchise
like I had that going for me right
but I had zero experience and like so many people
you know just kind of fall into the path if you
if you are open to opportunities
so that’s what happened
I was the CEO of a different company that helped or uh
executives climb the corporate ladder
I had a you know big staff
we had 200 and people
maybe more that was working for me
I did it for a number of years
um and then about 10 years ago maybe 12 years ago
I just started you know
corporate started turning its back on everyone
with age discrimination
and women coming back from maternity uh
even veterans coming back from tour of duty
like they were all invisible in the corporate world
and I got disgusted with that
so I felt like alright I had to do something else
so not knowing what I was gonna do I
you know what I did what everybody so many people
I went on Google I mean I just I went on Google
I started typing in words career helping business
I don’t know and somehow
eventually franchise consulting came up and I was like
what the heck is that I never heard of that um
and that’s honestly how it started
I read about it Learned about franchise um
became an affiliate franchise consulting with franchise
loved it loved helping people to own their own business
leave corporate um
spend time with family work on financial success
I mean I just
I loved it and then as you know um
our our founder Tim Bleecker
eventually he wanted to retire um
I was there about a year and a half
and I got approached to buy the business
which took me I think I don’t know a second to say yes
and there you go well
there was nothing to think about
I loved it I knew the people it
it was it was just a no brainer
so there you go and um
that was an
that was the easiest like business transaction
that was that was a simple transaction in the end okay
I’m gonna help you I
this is a PG podcast by the way
but you made me think of something when you said
you just googled it right
yeah and I just Learned a new acronym
and I’m not gonna say the entire
but it’s GTS and that stands for Google that
yes OK
yes I like that stop
I’m sure the word is stop right
GTS
yup
haha
oh well
I’m sure I’m gonna let you
you take over here
because I know you have a lot of interest in
understanding everything that Alicia has going on
especially in with if uh IFA yeah
thank you yeah
no thanks Pam and thanks Alicia
thank I love to hear your
your backstory that was
that’s really uplifting
so thanks so much for sharing that
and just like
the fact that you’re able to just jump in comfortably
and just really kind of
jump into franchising with such um
you know the goals that you have
and you’re certainly
have grown into being a significant
influencer and leader in the franchise community
and like Pam said
something else we wanted to talk to you about
was your involvement in the international franchise
Franchise Association also known as IFA uh
we know you’ve uh
been on quite a few boards over there
so I thought we would just kind of go through the list
one uh
actually the first two
I’m gonna bring up are the ones that you brought up
as to why you were kind of tired of corporate America
so one was diversity board
do you want to share a little bit about that
yeah the diversity board is really um
a very powerful one
and what it works to do is to help people from
you know disadvantaged or marginalized
um sometimes
you know I sometimes call them
you know the corporate invisible right
um and again
it’s people of color um
different ethnic um
sexual orientation
people that maybe in corporate America
don’t feel as comfortable
or financially in their um
community don’t have the money to necessarily come in
and own a franchise
they might have a good business background
or have the ambition or the desire
so the diversity board has really been aggressive
in helping people to come into the franchise space that
otherwise never would and um
we got very heavily involved
we pledged and donated $25,000 this past year
to help with a scholarship
and the IFA has been doing that
and they intend to do that every year
which we’ll commit to as well
to help people who are marginalized
because franchising I feel
is the great equalizer it doesn’t matter your age
you don’t necessarily you really need a college degree
you don’t uh
need to have tons of business experience
you you know
it’s a blueprint right
and it helps people to become successful
as the tagline says if you follow the system
so you know
that’s the beauty of franchising
so lots of people who don’t think they
quote unquote are qualified or are um
of the material you absolutely are
we absolutely welcome you
and the diversity helps open that door it
it sure sounds like it does
and I love that you know
you’re you know
putting in a scholarship
because that can be one of the biggest barriers
and I feel like just
in the time that I’ve been in the consulting world
for franchising
I have seen some growth on the diversity side
so it seems to be having an impact
so that’s wonderful squeaky wheel gets the oil right
the more noise you make eventually you have to
you can’t be ignored right
you keep bringing that that gravel
you gotta pay attention to the diversity
absolutely that’s good
and then um
another one that I
I care about as well as you do too is the vet friend
you wanna share a little bit about that
uh
vet friend helps veterans come into the franchise space
and I have been a pro um
you know veteran
um you know
military person before I got into franchising
and I I’m not sure why like I’ve never served
I mean my dad didn’t
you know back in the day I was in the army
but it I wasn’t a military brat
I didn’t grow up with that
but I find that courage
and that commitment to our freedom is so respectable
I’m in awe of that and so early on
I got involved in when I was a life and career coach
of helping veterans
who were suffering from post traumatic stress disorder
kind of doing some career coaching
life coaching I was certified for that
and I it just was heartbreaking to me when like
corporate didn’t pay attention to them
so that Fran
was one of the very first things I got involved with um
when I came into franchising and with Francor because I
I absolutely wanted to help them to have a community
and they miss that and the military is a community
and they feel comfortable
and franchising is a community
you know we call it the Fran fam right
so I knew they would feel comfortable
I knew it would be a good thing for them
and let’s face it military people are wonderful at
like carrying out orders and
you know being disciplined and what’s franchising about
right repeating and carrying out the
the system so for me
that was a no that was a no brainer
and for many years I was the only woman in vet friend
I’m happy to say
we have another person on the committee who is a woman
but again making our way right as a pink tsunami
but yeah
I think that’s very important to help the veterans uh
become part of of
and we they also
it all studies show that you know
veterans have a tremendous success record
as franchise owners and also as employees
uh for veterans
so it’s not necessarily that you have to own right
just again it’s
that’s not the only path
you can come in as an employee of either a franchise
or a franchisee yeah exactly
they know how to follow a playbook
they’ve absolutely trained up uh
and and you’re right
that this path into franchise ownership
or being a part of a franchise system
definitely lines up with your experience
so um
alright let’s move on to the next one
we’ve got legal legislative committee
what’s that about yeah
you know I
I have no legal background right
I was pre law early on in college
but switched out of that into English
so I could graduate early but um
I’ve always loved it and I
I like contracts um
you know obviously
at one time
I thought maybe I’d be a corporate attorney or
you know contract attorney
mergers and acquisitions things like that
but um
there’s so much that goes on with the IFA
with franchising small business
I’m on the Small Business Council right
so I get a lot involved with that as well
they’re they overlap many times and um
you know franchising is made of entrepreneurs
small business owners right
so we don’t want a whole lot of government uh
involved and so it takes a lot
it takes the community takes the village right
so I’m on what’s called pack
I donate $5,000 every year
so that we have a lobby in the
in DC I go down every September to uh
walk the hill with many
about 400 people from the franchise space
to sit and talk to legislator
the you know senators
house of representatives of
why some of these bills that they want to pass
are not in favor of things that we do want passed
and uh
once again squeaky wheel
you know gets the oil
so I applaud uh
you know Matt Heller
who’s the CEO of the IFA I
met him before he was the CEO
when he was head of the legal legislation
so that was my connection with him
so I’ve known Matt for quite some time
and now I’m involved in the
Broker Legislation Task Force
Sarah Davis who’s their corporate attorney uh
asked me to be on that and we put that together to uh
make sure my consultants and brokers are well protected
uh within the franchising space
yeah now that’s great
and that’s what IFA is for
is kind of an umbrella we can all be represented under
uh because it’s so um
it’s such an easy space to understand
but yet no
people need to constantly have somebody out there
explaining it
and why we’re doing what we’re doing
and how it really helps uh
our country uh
to have these small businesses out there
and create job opportunity
as well as business ownership
so well you’d be so surprised
even lots of people in government
who are very smart people
don’t understand franchising
yep they think it’s big business
they think it’s these big corporations
they do not realize that it is individual owners
you know when they go to their
you know you know
whatever location it is
and down the block from where they live
that’s an individual owner and
and uh it’s very education educational and uh
kind of I’m in awe
when I see that light bulb go over their head right
because these are people who
deal with big issues all the time and
and like so many people
they do not realize they are small businesses
just like you and I
sitting at the table with their teenage kids
talking about whatever right
you know put the phone down and eat dinner
they’re the same people
and they are the business owners
they make up the franchise community
yeah and they don’t
and they kind of fall under
like you said
corporate America and that’s not what they are
they’re small business owners
and you guys are trying to represent them
in a way that will bring success to everybody
which is great um
I want to bring up one more and then we’ll move on
the recently founded initiative for Franchise
Broker Coalition
yeah that guy
that guy put together you know
it’s so funny um
I we all
every in business
everybody has competition right
we’re all aware of that right
and and I’m
I’m no different than that
but you know
it’s a small circle so we all know each other um
and it’s a professional right
sort of a competition but when there’s things that
that come up um
my feeling is that when you
you know all
you know rising tides lift all ships right
and so there was a a
a period which is why I’m on the task force of
you know looking at the broker community
under a real scrutinized way right
that we felt could harm us
that the public or not so much the public
but government was misunderstanding what we do
how we do it again
not understanding franchising
so we were all being harnessed as like
I mean I felt it was like the used car salesman uh
you know the typical stereotype of that and
and I put that together with uh
the other broker networks and
you know
some accepted and some did not being quite candid
some say no we’re competitors and that’s it
but I really felt that in times of
and I’ll use the word crisis or um
you know situation
some things call for us to have a
a commonality and this was one of them for me
so yes um
I was banging on doors that normally
I would not normally bang on saying listen
we gotta work together
for the greater good of franchising
for the greater good of our
all our consultants and for the greater good of
of the public who aren’t being uh
who don’t understand us and who could be uh
misunderstanding what the government is
how they’re portraying us
so yeah that was
that was rough at the beginning
it’s gotten better
oh I’m glad it’s getting better
yeah and we’re all kind of using this tagline
responsible franchise absolutely
and that’s what it’s about girlfriend
responsible franchising for the public
for the community for everyone
it’s it’s better
I we were on board from day one with the IFA
standing for responsible franchising
yeah and I hope everybody will get on board with that
what were you gonna say Pam
yeah no
I was just gonna say
so I want to talk about Friendserve
uh real quick
obviously Friendserve and and Sherry I are
are franchise consultants
that are affiliated with Friendserve uh
the world’s largest franchise consultant
broker network out there um
and I have to congratulate you Alicia
another accolade here
France serves recognition and ink 5,000 wow
yeah that I will say that that was um
probably for me as a CEO
probably the highlight of my career to date because um
that’s very uh that’s very black and white right
that’s not subjective that’s not a vote
that’s not anybody who knows someone
or you can’t pay to play
or that’s just black and white numbers
and you’re up against not franchises
you’re up against old biz private businesses in America
so yes the fact that we were uh
recognized as one of the top
5,000 in America for last year
is a tribute to my team my
my uh Franchise Consult owns the
the brands that we’re with the suppliers
I mean that is a huge village making that happen
I usually get the accolade because I’m the face of it
but honest to goodness I could never do that without
the way that we all change people’s lives
it is about changing lives
and that’s what that’s what makes franceerve grow
is that we do that year after year
um with that
with that intent and then the success comes um
as a as a wonderful result of that
so it’s I’m
I’m in gratitude to everybody at
at franceerve in the franceerve family
well and
and just yesterday obviously
you held uh
the franchise state of the union uh
for consultants um
by the way great meeting
um and one of the things that I’ve always said
I’ve admired about you not only your courage
you know I’m always gosh I
I gotta be that woman that
that pink tsunami that’s okay
jumping off the building
and building those wings on the way down
you know I
I’m not quite there but um
without that being said
I’ve always admired your core values
and I noticed on the state of the union yesterday
yeah you used to always share the reason behind
three core values but you added a fourth core value
correct uh
would you like to walk through all four
would you like me to sure yeah sure
yeah it took me 10 years
just about 10 years to add the fourth one
so we I try to keep things very simple
and the core values that I brought to France over mine
they’re how I guide my life
because life is messy and confusing
and if you don’t have a sense of how to discern what’s
what you’re hearing or how you’re acting
uh it can
it can
it keeps you up at night
I I don’t stay up at night
I’m very comfortable in my decision
so the first one is integrity is everything
um no matter what
I always come back to that
that’s always that’s why it’s our first core value
if I’m ever not sure I come back
look at the integrity cause it
you know character integrity is is
you know what you do when no one else is looking at you
right
it’s not what you’re posting on Facebook or LinkedIn
or whatever it’s when no one’s looking
how are you performing and how are you treating people
and what are you thinking
and that’s integrity to my definition
so that’s always first second is grow or die um
and I really do believe that uh
business personal
you know we have to get out of comfort zones
even if they’re baby steps
we have to learn new things
we have to try new things
we have to have a curious mind
so the grow or die kind of keeps that curious mind
uh for me and that I share for the company
and the third one that we have is teamwork gets results
because again what do I say
no one’s an island right
no woman can do everything by herself
other than maybe Wonder Woman right
but other than her most of our more
you know us being mortals
we can’t do that and a lot of people have said to me
why don’t you have teamwork before grow or die
like shouldn’t it be integrity
teamwork and then grow
but the reality is being human
we all kind of get in our comfort zones
including me
and sit back on our laurels and our successes
and if I don’t have a little kick in the butt now
and then I could get
I could get complacent
so the grow or die helps me to do that
then I do teamwork to get it all completed
the fourth one that I just added
like I said it took me about 10 years to add this one
for probably my life
and therefore brought it into France
is the life work balance
and I know that many people refer to it as work
life balance I’m on a
I’m on a huge mission to change that
um because why would you ever put work in front of life
right why would work be more important than life
so for me the life work balance is
cause I’ve always you know
been you know
the go getter and you know
make it happen quicker and whatever it may be
but you know
as you age you get some maturity
you understand that you know
life is short the pandemic certainly taught us that
to reevaluate our priorities
which is what I did then
and that no one dies on their deathbed
and their last wish is Gee
I wish I worked more I
don’t know anybody who ever says that
we all want more life
we all wish that we had spent more time with
fill in the blank and so I said
you know what I mean my team works hard
the consultants work hard
we have these you know
success clubs people can earn
you know lots of money
but if that’s all you’re doing 24 seven
seven days a week three 65
it’s like living life through your camera right
you’re so busy taking pictures
that you’re not seeing the sunset
like stop and enjoy life right now in this moment
and that’s the mindfulness
and that’s why I added that to France of
to help the consultants and brands take a vacation
take a break spend some time with family because it’s
it makes us all better people
and and in the end business will
will do better because we’re better people
cause we have a better mindset
cause we’re better balance
and I think the I know it sounds naive
but I think the world would be better
no and I
this was not planned listeners
cause you just segue into something
and I started thinking myself as you were speaking
I was like I think I might have a fifth uh
core value for for Alicia cause she’s already doing it
it’s nothing new and um
and that is give back um
you’re already doing it I France Fran a that’s the yes
just Fran a to talk about that
yeah that’s the um
you know um
work hard play hard
help others repeat um
we’re a PDO I made that term up
purpose driven organization
I just
I made that up years ago because I want that to spread
and and that
I really feel that
if you’re only in business to make money
and you’re only in business for the PNL listen
I’m a CEO I look at PNL
I have to make money we have to do that
otherwise we’re not in business
but if that is the reason why
you’re getting up in the morning
find something else to do right
because if it doesn’t give you joy
and you don’t want to share with others um
I don’t know then something’s missing in my opinion
I really do believe that human beings are social um
we react
typically when someone is harmed or hurt or suffering
it we’re
you know we have empathy right
we we feel that we don’t
we don’t want to see that
so I long ago um
I’ve done it before francer
but certainly with francer
I mean listen
we’re blessed we
we seem to do things right
we grow I mean
if I if we were struggling
I might not be able to be as generous as I am
but we are and
you know uh
you can’t take it with you right
you know so what am I doing with all of it right
I I
I like to give back to the consultants
I like to give brands a break
I like to do you know
fun things but you
to me if you’re not giving back and helping others
you’re missing something as a human being
and it doesn’t have to be a lot doesn’t
you know I used to do the
the pay it forward
pay it forward Fridays right
so every Friday I would do something uh
um whatever
I’m in line to pay my Dunkin Donuts and I’d
I’d pick up the one behind me right
you know what I mean it’s like little things
it doesn’t have to be that you’re donating 25 grand
or five doesn’t have to be anything like that
it can just be small things
but I will tell you man
it makes you feel amazing
it’s an amazing feeling to be able to help someone and
and I’m sure there are people who will say yes
you know you’re
it’s nice that you but honestly
it makes me feel good at the end of the day
and I need to feel good in this world also
so it has its benefits as
as you know
mutually uh
to them and to me yeah
no well said
and then it is interesting because
you know I’ve always said I
who’s getting more out of it right
the giver or the receiver
ha ha
absolutely Pam you
you that’s
that’s very true it’s very equal
yep agreed
so I’m gonna bring us full circle here
you know like you mentioned
you started
you got into the franchise consulting community
as a consultant as a franchise consultant
now you’re the CEO of franchise
and involved in a
pretty broad footprint there going on
but I I wanna come full circle uh
if you were going to give uh
someone advice who is considering franchise ownership
uh
what they should do outside of obviously contacting us
the franchise sisters um
haha what
what advice would you give to that individual
individual
that is considering moving toward franchise ownership
yep it’s the fear factor
right is
is to recognize the fear factor
you’re human you’re gonna feel it
you’re gonna be like what am I doing
you’re gonna be excited then you’re gonna have the fear
if you don’t work through the fear
you’re gonna be like
99% of everybody who’s ever said to me Jay
I’d love to own my own business
but franchising now from when I started 10 years ago
there’s so much diversity in terms of investment
the size the footprint has come down
it’s much more affordable
there’s a million more categories
it’s not just food there’s b to B
there’s so much there’s
there’s uh
truly I feel
that there’s a franchise for just about everybody
if that’s what you want
but the problem isn’t typically the money
the problem isn’t typically the territory
the it
it’s typically the fear that comes in
you know your your cousin Susie says oh
I know somebody who did that and they lost every cent
and that’s it you’re done
I’m not doing it
so it’s knowing that the fear is going to come up
recognizing that and saying yup
here it is my old friend fear
welcome to my world I’m gonna shake your hand
but we’re gonna take another step forward
and that’s all that we ask you to do
just take a baby step forward
you will be amazed at the opportunities
that come out of taking that step forward
the thing that we hear
and I’m sure you ladies hear it all the time
over and over and over and over again is man
I wish I had done this sooner right
they wish they had become a franchisee sooner
not oh I wish I had never done
I wish I had done this 10 years ago
I wish I wish but do it now
you’re gonna be 10 years older anyway
do it now so that’s what I think is the greatest um
obstacle for people
and the thing you have to fight the hardest
cause you don’t even know it sneaks in
it sneaks in and these little noises in our head
and you know you look for justification
you look for your your brother to say
are you sure you want that franchise
oh maybe I don’t maybe I should put the picture
we look for that that’s just common denominator
so working with the franchise consultant
like the franchise sisters
I mean it’s so good
cause they hear that they know it
they understand it
they will help you to get past that fear
because once you get past it
it’s like a it’s like a new world that opens
it’s you know what
I Learned it to you like the Wizard of Oz right
she’s in she’s in Kansas and it’s
and it’s black and white
she has a nice life and everything
and then she gets past that fear
she the fear comes
the wind comes she’s all scared
then she gets into Oz and what
everything’s in color everything’s big right
so I’m not saying that franchising is easy or perfect
but I will say it is a simple model
if you follow the model and it is open for everyone
it’s just as I said
the great equalizer so please join our franchise family
and by the way I actually wrote an article a while back
um
around fear right
the fear factor and I
it’s called how to manage to that four letter word
again we’re PG
but how to manage to that four letter word is a
is a big piece of it hands down 100% yep yep
and I have a little tagline in my signature that says
um it
it quotes George who says
everything you ever wanted is on the other side of fear
so you know
just a little a little tip to our
our listeners is
a lot of times if you just get educated
it can reduce that fear factor
and that’s what we try to do as consultants
we try to get you educated on the opportunity
and what opportunities are out there
so you can really take a deep dive
and understand what the franchise opportunity is
and that surprise that really lowers your fear factor
so you can make a good business decision
so preparation right
when you prepare when you work with somebody who
who has been in that uh
field that knows the different brands and it
it does it right it helps you to prepare and prepare
knowledge and education uh
alleviates fear right
so what is it the one of the things that we say
you can’t get wet from the word water right
you know at one point or other
you can read and prepare and knowledge
but you gotta take that baby step
gotta put the toe in the water
gotta go forward so you are
you girls are
ladies are a great team for them to work with
because you’ve been it for a long time
and you’ve helped
zillions of people to change their lives
so yeah yep
no thank you Alicia
and you’re right if you put your big toe in it
just the only thing you’re giving up is time
to get educated
and when you walk away getting educated
you can feel good about your business decision
be it to go in or not
but you feel like you’ve got the um
information you need to make a good decision so um
we’re kind of wrapping this up here
we’re getting close to the end of our time Alicia
it’s been a pleasure having you on the podcast
I do wanna uh
bring it back to you just one more time
to see if you have any additional thoughts
you want to share before we wrap it up
any tips for budding entrepreneurs
that you haven’t already shared
take it away well
first of all thank you ladies for having me on
I appreciate and I love the pink support
just amazing
I did not just so everybody knows if you’re seeing it
I didn’t ask them to do anything
they did all of that on their own
so very sweet but I will say that uh
the last thing that I’m gonna say is
you know Henry Ford uh
to quote Henry Ford said if I had asked the people
they would have said they want a faster horse
right
so instead he built an automobile and of course now
you know we all have cars
so that that
what I’m asking you to do
is just step outside of your comfort zone
that’s really what it’s about
and that’s how you kind of
decide if owning a franchise is good for you
becoming a franchise consultant
becoming a franchisee
or working for a supplier working for
as I said my book opens a lot of avenues for you
come into the franchise space
will help you figure it out
and of course the last thing I’m going to say to you
and to your audience I have to is say it with me ladies
have a fantastic day right
so fantastic is the way of the life of the franchisee
so I wish you all well and thank you again
uh you ladies just rock
yeah no
thank you thanks for uh
being a wonderful guest
obviously on the Franchise Business Radio show
always great to hear uh
what you have going on because there’s so
always some continuous forward movement
which I love like you said
you don’t you don’t like to look in the rearview mirror
right you’re
you’re straight ahead yeah that’s right
I work in a world grow or die right
grow or die
so definitely thank you to our listeners
um thank you a um
I just wanna kind of wrap up by saying
you know again
