Doody Calls Franchise. Chad Harrison shares why they are Number 1 in the Number 2 business.

Chad Harrison likes to say Doody Calls is number one in the number two business. The pun gets a laugh, but the model behind it is serious: recurring service, a wide labor pool, and no special licensing requirements.

In this episode of the Franchise Sisters Business Radio Show, Pam Currie and Shari Currie Skjoldager talk with Chad Harrison, franchise developer for Doody Calls, the pet waste management brand within Authority Brands. Doody Calls started around 2000 and began franchising around 2004. It serves residential homeowners and commercial properties, including HOAs, apartment complexes, condos, and gated communities.

Chad explains how franchisees can run this pet waste removal franchise as owner-operators or as semi-absentee owners from day one. He describes how weekly and biweekly recurring service creates predictable cash flow, and how a call center with AI after-hours coverage handles customer calls. He also walks through territory structure, marketing, virtual training, the estimated startup investment, and the Item 19 figures in the brand’s FDD.

Heather Dill on Comfort Keepers, the Senior Care Franchise She Named at 10

What happens when the franchise you grew up with becomes your career? Heather Dill was 10 years old when she suggested the name “Comfort Keepers” at the family dinner table. Today, she helps new owners join the brand her parents built.

On this episode of the Franchise Sisters Business Radio Show, Pam Currie and Shari Currie Skjoldager talk with Heather Dill of the Comfort Keepers franchise development team. Heather explains how a home health nurse’s frustration with the lack of non-medical support for patients led to the founding of Comfort Keepers in Springfield, Ohio, in 1998, and to franchising just one year later.

Heather walks through how the in-home senior care franchise model works. She covers companion care, personal care, optional skilled care, and the Comfort 360 safety technology program. She also discusses state licensing requirements, private pay versus VA and long-term care insurance payers, and why caregiver recruitment is often the bigger challenge than finding clients. The conversation also covers owner roles, semi-involvement, and training. Heather closes with the numbers: an estimated initial investment of $119,000 to $190,000 (including a $55,000 franchise fee), a 5% royalty, and the average per-territory figure disclosed in the brand’s franchise disclosure document.

Jamie Krasnov & Clay McKee with Apex Leadership Co. Fundraising Franchise Model

What if your franchise could raise real money for local schools and help kids build leadership skills at the same time? On this episode of the Franchise Sisters Business Radio Show, Pam Currie and Shari Currie Skjoldager sit down with two leaders from Apex Leadership Company — CEO Jamie Krasnov and franchise development executive Clay McKee — to unpack a fundraising franchise built around community impact for elementary and middle schools.

Jamie and Clay walk through the Apex story and how the model actually works: how franchisees run school fundraising events, where the revenue comes from (including recurring income), who the end customers are, and what kind of support and training new owners receive. They also get into the practical side of ownership — the ideal franchisee profile, a realistic day in the life of an owner, and the questions prospective owners tend to ask about investment and financing.

Scott Breimhorst on Jet Black: A 40-Year-Old “Hidden Gem” Pavement Maintenance Franchise

Some of the best franchise opportunities hide in plain sight — like the yellow Jet Black stakes popping up one driveway at a time across a neighborhood. In this episode of the Franchise Sisters Business Radio Show, hosts Pam Currie and Shari Currie Skjoldager talk with Scott Breimhorst, who leads franchise development for Jet Black International Franchising.

Scott calls Jet Black a “40-year-old emerging brand”: a pavement maintenance company built on asphalt sealcoating and crack filling that grew almost entirely by word of mouth to more than 150 territories in operation. He shares the story behind the brand and its owner, Nick Kelso — a former franchisee who bought the company — and walks through a franchisee-friendly model that includes a proprietary all-in-one back-office system, a proprietary crack filler supplied just over co

Jamie & Stella Lavigne on Parents Buying Franchises for Their Kids

What if building generational wealth starts before an inheritance is ever passed down? In this episode, the Franchise Sisters explore what they call the Bi-Generational Wealth Movement — also known as the Tsunami of Parents Buying Kids Franchises.

Co-hosts Pam Currie and Shari Currie Skjoldager sit down with a mother-and-daughter duo, Jamie Lavigne and her 14-year-old daughter, Stella. Jamie has been in the franchise community since 2007, and she shares how the typical candidate has shifted from someone in their 50s or 60s looking for a “bridge to retirement” to far more young adults — and parents investing right alongside their kids. Stella talks about how she was introduced to franchising through Meet the Team Days and years of tagging along on calls, and how she went from “no way, I’m going to school” to considering business ownership as another possible path.

What if small and mid-sized businesses could use AI without wasting money on the wrong tools? In this episode, Pam Currie and Shari Currie Skjoldager welcome Ken Boyce, co-founder and vice president of Franchise Development for Human Advisor AI, to discuss the AI consulting franchise model.

Ken shares how Human Advisor AI helps businesses identify gaps, use AI to increase revenue or decrease expenses, and connect with vetted AI solution providers through its marketplace of over 100 AI companies — a marketplace that accepts zero commissions, referral fees, or kickbacks, keeping franchisees completely vendor-agnostic. He also explains the B2B retainer model, including $2,500 a month for 10 hours, $5,000 a month for 20 hours, $250 an hour, and 10% of savings. Ken also discusses the $75,000 franchise fee for 10 years, the ability for most franchisees to open for less than $100,000, and why the business can operate from a home office with very little overhead.

He discusses Break Coffee’s history going back to 2003 in Australia, its rebrand from Expresso Delight, its partnership with Jura, and its growth from eight or nine franchisees at the end of 2025 to 19 franchisees signed. Anthony also explains the investment range of $100,000 to $140,000 for one territory, Item 19 data showing the average franchisee in 2025 brought in about $215,000 in sales with $85,000 in net operating income — a 40% net margin — and a top performer who did just over half a million in sales and about $260K net.
